This Year’s Hair Colour Trends

This year has already seen an explosion of colour in women’s hair fashion, with cool technicolour shades seen on many celebrities, and with prominent greys in for the summer, this is definitely the year of colour. Natural colours are also prominent on the catwalk, with brown and blonde streaks abundantly displayed.

Fiery Red

Hairdressers in London are reporting fiery red dyes are popular for bridal hair, with plats and hair extensions. Keratin hair straightening enables any woman to go for that sleek, shiny office look, and the highlights are greens and blues, although not too pronounced.

A mixture of blonde and brown hues, the bronde look has been with us since late autumn of last year, with swirling curls adding to the blend of shades, giving a distinctly sophisticated look. J-Lo brought this trendy style to us last year, and with other A-listers joining the bronde brigade. This style is a hit in the summer due to its sunkissed look, and beach-tanned skin really accentuates the hue, making it popular in California.

This refers to hair that is darker at the roots and gradually lightens to the tips, and it creates stunning effects on the right hair. The favoured combination is dark brown to blonde, giving an ash-blonde touch to the brunette base. Accentuated ends add a touch of beachiness, going with the sun kissed theme we’ve seen so much of. Ombre can be intense, with all the colours of the rainbow incorporated into unique collections, allowing colour creativity to flow, and with so many variations, it is not limited to long hair.

Warm Browns & Soft Blondes

These two exotic hues create a tropical feel, and complement a windswept look, while at the same time they look stunning with shorter styles.

Red Tints

Brunettes are falling for deep, dark reds in a big way, and expect to see some green, which is the favoured colour in terms of highlights. Red adds some fire to any style and complements pale skin, while contrasting well with jet black.

Rainbow Colours

Such is the diversity, and thanks to technology, we are into the million-colour palette age, so there is no limits to what you can do. Although we follow trends set by celebs and the fashion shows, these are just guidelines, and with a little of your own imagination, you can create your own look.

Hair Extensions

They are here to stay! The instant long-hair look can be applied at any time, and with clip-ons, it can be a temporary switch. This means colour combinations can easily be created, and mix and match can give you any number of chic looks, with strong mid-range colour for that reggae hue, stripes of green and red, on straight black hair. Human hair extensions can be professionally attached at most hair salons, and the treatment lasts for a few months.

Professional Application

All hair colour treatments should be in the hands of the professionals, who not only know their business, but also are in touch with the latest looks, and can replicate something if requested. If you want to get creative with the colours, this is the perfect time, with every shade of the spectrum visible.
