How to Avoid Short Hair Mistakes

Pulling off a short hairstyle is not something that every woman can do, but it looks great on a girl who can pull it off. Managing short hair does not have to take lots of effort but you should follow a few basic rules to make sure that the hairstyle stays in top condition. Here at Circles of Subiaco, we know how to make short hair look effortlessly stylish at the hair salon.

Read our guide about how to avoid short hair mistakes.

Blow-Drying Too Much

The temptation with short hair is to blow-dry it completely in order to get the job done. However, this can cause your hair to dry out quite quickly and to become frayed. Instead of blow-dry it completely, run the hair-dryer for a short time before switching to a towel to get the job done fully.

This will keep your hair in good condition and will avoid any problems.

Using Too Much Wax

Using some hair wax is a good way to give your hair some bounce and character. This is a good way to catch people’s eye. However, if you use too much hair gel, you might find that your hair starts to become incredibly greasy. This will give you the urge to wash your hair very often.

Doing Too Much To The Hair

Overworking the hair by combing, spraying and waxing it too much can cause the hair to become brittle and thin. Simplicity is the best policy when it comes to short hair because that will keep it looking as fresh as possible.

Cutting it Too Often

The temptation if you like short hair is to cut it as often as possible to keep the shape just right. However, it is beneficial to let the hair grow out for a while before cutting it back.

Combing Too Much

Shorter hair is easier to comb than longer hair, but it is a mistake to comb too often. Combing too often can cause individual strands of hair to fall out. If you are going to comb your hair, make sure that you do it infrequently enough so that individual strands of hair won’t get damaged.

Brushing Up Hair at the Crown

Short hair works best when it is smooth all over. Some women might want to brush up their hair at the crown to create a bouffant effect, but this can look as if you just got out of bed.  If you want to brush your hair up, do this at the fringe as it creates a slight quiff effect.

Curling Short Hair

Straighteners are best for short hair. Whilst curling might seem like a good idea, but this can make your hair brittle. You can pin your hair in place to give it a curled look without having to straighten.
